WHERE

Portis Vecchio (training site of the SERM Academy), Venzone (municipality), Palmanova (Regional Civil Protection headquarter)

OBJECTIVES

The exercise aims at verifying the effectiveness of the integrated seismic emergency response of the Italian National Fire Service and the Regional Civil Protection, using recent technologies and innovative procedures designed by the SPRINT-Lab of the University of Udine.

In particular, the exercise tests the recent advancements on the technical triage methodology and on the realization of the shoring interventions, carried out after the earthquakes of L'Aquila 2009, Emilia 2012, and Central Italy 2016, and the international missions in Nepal 2015 and Ecuador 2016. These experiences have permitted the optimization of technical survey procedures and the implementation of  ICT tools for supporting the decision making process during the emergency response.

The exercise includes the simulation of early rescue activities and the activation of municipal emergency plans and it aims at verifying:

  • the systemic response of the Italian National Fire Service, the Regional Civil Protection, and the University of Udine,
  • the advantages deriving from the settlement of an integrated situation room (SIGeT) at the Civil Protection headquarter in Palmanova;
  • the cross-border interoperability for the realization of short-term countermeasures.
