The purpose of the Chair is to promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation on intersectoral safety for disaster risk reduction and resilience.
The Chair facilitates collaboration between high-level, internationally-recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and of other institutions in Italy as well as elsewhere in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and other regions of the world.
Specific objectives of the Chair
Training
Improve awareness and reinforce the capacities of students, researchers and practitioners in Intersectoral Safety for disaster risk reduction and resilience through training
Create knowledge
Introduce and strengthen Intersectoral Safety as an innovative, holistic approach for disaster risk reduction and resilience, notably by improving inter-university cooperation and scientific networking
Transfer knowledge
Improve awareness and reinforce the capacities of experts, decision and policy-makers, students, researchers and practitioners in Intersectoral Safety for disaster risk reduction and resilience through education and training
Collaborate and support
Collaborate closely with UNESCO and existing UNESCO Chairs on relevant programmes and activities; and build North-South and North-South-South cooperation between partners and foster collaborative work and the sharing of knowledge among them through practical activities and the development of science-based, tailormade methodologies and tools
Design and develop tools
Create digital platforms for knowledge sharing and data collection, as well as the production and dissemination of web and media content
