VISUS Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022

In the context of the joint UN Programme "Disaster Risk Reduction for Sustainable Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina", the UNESCO Chair researchers are applying the VISUS methodology for the safety assessment of 40 schools in ten municipalities of Bosnia and Hezegovina. The main goals of the Programma are to support Bosnian citizens, especially the most vulnerable categories and high-risk local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to prepare and adapt to the risks of disasters and strikes in different sectors of developmentis.

One activity of the Programme concerns the application of the VISUS methodology in 40 schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This activity will be implemented in close cooperation with the Universities in Sarajevo and Banja Luka.

VISUS will allow to identify the necessary actions for upgrading the safety of the assessed schools in a multi-hazard perspective, while reducing as much as possible the time and costs for the safety assessment of the learning facilities of each school.
